I was commissioned by Science Gallery London to create an engaging hero image representing the core themes of the exhibition - Spare Parts. The image was then used across the entire marketing campaign and advertising for the exhibition. The exhibition focused on the nature of the human body and the science, ethics and technology that enable its repair or alteration. With such broad and varied exhibition content I felt that we needed a common language made strange to pull people in. The recognisable ‘Air-fix Kit’ is made strange with 'plasticized’ organs - suggesting the idea of DIY body repair, this idea is further reinforced with the SD card representing technology’s potential role in digitalising human memories.
The hero image
London Underground posters advertising the exhibition
Window display posters advertising the exhibition on the outside of the gallery
48-sheet poster advertising the final weeks of the exhibition
Leaflets created for a Spare Parts themed Friday Late event taking place as part of the exhibition. While the key image used changed to reflect the event I kept the remaining visual language the same to create consistency across the advertising.
